Topi Hill Organics

Topi Hill Organics name is based on the name of the hill on which our off-the-grid sustainably-built house sits. The house is surrounded by our young mixed fruit orchard and vegetable gardens which are grown on the principles of permaculture, using only organic inputs.

Who is involved in the business?

Topi Hill Farm has been in the Single family for over 50 years. Sarah and her husband Richard took over the farm from Richard’s parents in the late 90s, and built their architect-designed house on it 7 years ago. While Richard spends his time growing trees, Sarah spends time between tending the vegie gardens, harvesting the produce and adding value to excess or over-ripe produce to reduce food waste.

How did you get started in farming?

Sarah and Richard come from a lifetime in the food industry in Sydney, running Serendipity Ice Cream until almost 2 years ago when they committed to their tree change more fully. Sarah’s role was CEO for over 30 years, which has given her expertise across a broad range of disciplines in business.

What prompted you to start this business?

Sarah’s love of making good food meant she just couldn’t help but share the good things that come from her kitchen with the broader community.

What do you produce?

Sarah loves making foods with big flavour, and enjoys even more watching people’s delight in the eating of those foods. Some of the foods that she is currently making under the Topi Hill Organics label are:

Spiced nuts and savoury biscuits, brownies and biscottini, savoury and dessert sauces and of course fresh produce like herbs, fruit and vegies.

…and of course fresh produce herbs, fruit and vegies

Ice cream made with Burraduc buffalo milk is a new addition, and gourmet frozen meals.
